a complementary therapy originating in Japan over 100 years ago. |
adapted for use on horses some 25 years ago by the late Pamela Hannay. |
the theory surrounding shiatsu is similar to that of acupuncture and acupressure. |
like these therapies, shiatsu influences the meridian (or energetic) system within the body. |
by restoring balance within this system, a multitude of physical and emotional problems are alleviated. |
A trained eye and trained hands will be able to identify imbalances within the meridian system as well as picking up on areas of physical tightness, stiffness or weakness. A wide variety of pressure, rotation and stretching techniques are then used to help resolve these problems.
